CQUniversity’s Learning Management staff and students did a
fabulous job in hosting Romp in the Park alongside Rockhampton Communities for
Children last week.
It was a fantastic showcase of hands-on learning activities
and interactive displays for the thousands of littlies, mums and dads who
turned out at the Botanic Gardens for the event.
The day was filled with face painting, storytelling,
dancing, building with clay, navigating mazes, building masks, drawing and
playing. Author Mark Svensden also treated children with readings from his
collection of popular children’s stories.
The theme for this year’s Romp was ‘Celebrating community: sharing stories, music, movement and culture –
thinking locally’. And that’s exactly what it was – a celebration of
community.
It was a fabulous opportunity for our students to not only
participate in the event, but also to showcase their talents and ideas to the
community. These students are tomorrow’s teachers and it’s great to know that
our young ones’ education will be nurtured by this amazing group of creative
and talented people.
I’m so proud of the work our pre-service teachers are
currently doing in schools throughout Australia and of the calibre of teaching graduates
that emerge from CQUniversity each year.
